St. Patrick’s Day Family Fun Ideas & Recipes
St. Patrick’s Day has become quite the new “in” Holiday with families it seems. Everywhere you look on the blogs there are some cool new ideas for crafts, food, or fun activities. We do a few things in our house to celebrate, even though we aren’t Irish, so I wanted to share those ideas as well as a few not so easy, but super-cute ideas I’ve found during my late night Internet research safaris. Just because.
Fun with Food
Surprise the kids for breakfast with the i am mommy blog’s Rainbow pancakes.

A Whisk and a Prayer blog made some super yummy Mint Oreo Cookies. The perfect dessert after your corned beef dinner.

FamilyFun.com created some simple and cute White Chocolate Shamrock Pretzels Treats.
Finally, these Marshmallow Pops from the fun Mom over at the Poca Cosa blog are super cute.
Just for Fun
- To me, getting the kids to believe in Leprechaun magic is what’s fun about this Holiday. Leprechauns are mischievous little tricksters and what kid doesn’t love that? Creatures after their own heart. Read my post from last year on fun Leprechaun tricks to play on the kids.
Leprechaun House
Last year my daughter had a letter writing exchange going with a leprechaun. She was so excited he left her a gold half dollar that this year she built him a house. It leans a little but hopefully the little green guy will like it just fine. (At the top of the post, my daughter drew a picture of leprechauns planting seeds that grow rainbows. Pretty good for an 8-year-old, huh?)
My friend Beth Engelman of MommyonaShoestring.com was on local TV with some great easy and inexpensive ideas for St. Patrick’s Day fun with the kids.
